Wisconsin state flag redesign
RedesignCurrent Wisconsin flag
Wisconsin's flag is currently a standard boring seal on a bedsheet. However, the crest contains a badger, which is a highly appropriate and established symbol for the state.
Design and symbolism
My redesign moves away from the seal while keeping the black, white, and yellow colors. By evoking the stripes of a badger through a spiked pattern, the flag becomes fitting, unique, and visually distinctive.
The badger
The spiked pattern evokes the distinctive stripes of a badger, retaining one of Wisconsin's most established symbols without reproducing the animal itself.
The colors
The black, white, and yellow are retained from the existing flag, preserving a visual connection to Wisconsin's current design.
Cheese
The yellow spikes also represent Wisconsin's famous cheese industry.
