Washington state flag redesign
RedesignDesign and symbolism
Washington distinguishes itself from the usual "seal on a bedsheet" by using a green field to evoke the state’s natural beauty, but the design remains trapped in the same uninspired format. My redesign retains that essential green symbolism while replacing the seal with George Washington’s banner of arms, rendered in green instead of the traditional red. To emphasize the state’s position in the Pacific Northwest, I have rotated the entire banner 270 degrees so that the design points decisively west. This transformation moves away from portraiture and toward a bold, heraldic flag that feels both historically grounded and geographically distinct.
