Utah state flag redesign
EvolutionDesign and symbolism
Utah’s recent move away from the "seal on a bedsheet" design is streets ahead of its predecessor, but the result still feels a bit corporate and designed by committee. It also relies on a standard red, white, and blue palette that feels more like a nod to the national colors than a unique expression of the state. My redesign makes it more distinctly Utah. I’ve ditched the red, white, and blue in favor of a palette of blue, black, and yellow. By removing the hexagon—since the beehive already conveys that symbolism—and simplifying the mountains, I’ve created a more organic and focused identity for the state.
