New Jersey's current flag is a seal on a bedsheet. At least it's on a field of buff instead of blue. But still.
Design and symbolism
My design for New Jersey is a buff-colored field charged with a light blue saltire and three stars.
The state colors
The buff and Jersey blue are drawn from the official state colors, originally selected by George Washington for the New Jersey Continental Line.
Jersey
The saltire references the flag of Jersey in the Channel Islands, with its red changed to blue as a nod to New Jersey's namesake.
The third state
The three stars signify New Jersey's status as the third state to ratify the United States Constitution.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands throughout Australia on which these federal divisions are drawn and pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
