Nebraska state flag redesign
Redesign
Current Nebraska flag
Nebraska's current monochrome seal ranks among the most complicated and unclear of the seal-on-a-bedsheet designs.
Design and symbolism
My redesign replaces that clutter with twelve long, sharp golden spikes against a dark navy blue field.
The Great Plains
The golden spikes represent Nebraska's wheat fields and the vast, open spaces of the state. Their sharp forms can also evoke Chimney Rock, one of Nebraska's most distinctive natural landmarks.
Nebraska's colors
The gold and navy blue are retained from the existing flag's palette, while giving those colors a stronger visual role in the design.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands throughout Australia on which these federal divisions are drawn and pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
