Design and symbolism

North Dakota's current flag is merely generic US symbolism on a bedsheet. While the state possesses a genuine coat of arms, it remains surprisingly underutilized. I considered using a banner of arms, but the very specific shield shape is central to its significance and would be lost in a plain rectangular translation. Adding an arrowhead symbol was another option, but that would alter the arms entirely.My solution is to feature the shield of the coat of arms within a bicolor. The chosen colors carry specific significance to North Dakota, creating a design that finally centers the state's unique heraldic identity.
