Montana state flag redesign
Redesign
Current Montana flag
Montana's current flag is so boring a seal-on-a-bedsheet design that they decided they needed to plaster a huge name tag across the top.
Design and symbolism
My redesign uses a blue, gold, and white palette. Gold mountains sit along the bottom of the flag, with white sections above them representing snow. A central pink bitterroot flower is placed on the blue field.
Big Sky Country
The blue field captures the vastness of the Montana sky, evoking the state's nickname, Big Sky Country.
The landscape
The gold mountains represent Montana's mountainous landscape, while the white above represent snow.
The bitterroot
The central bitterroot, Montana's state flower, adds a distinctive element that gives the flag a clear connection to the state.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands throughout Australia on which these federal divisions are drawn and pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
