Michigan state flag redesign
Redesign
Current Michigan flag
Michigan has a seal-on-a-bedsheet with not one, not two, but three mottos. The result is a busy flag that manages to turn even its text into clutter.
Design and symbolism
My design features a green hoist with two stars facing each other and the fly of five stripes in blue and white.
Peninsulas
The two stars represent Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas, while their opposing orientation represents the Straits of Mackinac between them.
The Great Lakes
The five blue and white stripes represent the five Great Lakes that border Michigan.
Naturally Michigan
Green, blue, and white are frequently used in association with Michigan to represent its natural environment, lakes, and snow.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands throughout Australia on which these federal divisions are drawn and pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
