Maine state flag redesign
Historic
Current Maine flag
Maine's current flag is another boring seal-on-a-blue-bedsheet design. The state had a much more distinctive historical flag, making the continued use of the seal particularly frustrating.
Design and symbolism
Maine had the opportunity to return to its unique 1901 flag in 2024, when a modernised version of the historical design was proposed. Unfortunately, the people of Maine decided to keep their current flag instead. I would not hesitate to use Adam Lemire's newly created version of the 1901 design.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands throughout Australia on which these federal divisions are drawn and pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
