Kansas state flag redesign
Redesign
Current Kansas flag
Kansas's current flag is another seal-on-a-bedsheet design, despite the state already having a distinctive and unique banner. Using the seal on the flag wastes an opportunity to use one of Kansas's strongest existing symbols.
Design and symbolism
My redesign takes the distinctive and iconic sunflower from the state banner and places it on a blue and green bicolor, creating a simple representation of the sky and fields behind the sunflower.
The sunflower
The sunflower is taken directly from the Kansas state banner and represents one of the state's most distinctive symbols.
Sky and fields
The blue and green fields represent the Kansas sky and agricultural landscape behind the sunflower.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands throughout Australia on which these federal divisions are drawn and pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
