Iowa state flag redesign
RedesignDesign and symbolism
Iowa has only generic federal symbolism in their flag. Red, white and blue and an eagle could apply to any state. That's probably why they felt the need to stick the name badge on there. So I wanted a strong departure from the generic design. The blue stripes represent the Mississippi, Missouri and Big Sioux Rivers that make up the eastern and western borders of the state. The black represents the soil and the yellow circles represent an abstract corn cob. The 29 circles in the corn represent the entry as the 29th state.
