Current Georgia flag
Georgia doesn't even try to hide that the flag is essentially a state version of the Confederate Stars and Bars. The 13 stars also represent a generic federal symbol that doesn't need to be on a state flag.
Design and symbolism
My redesign removes the 13 stars and expands the canton to cover the entire hoist. The golden arch from the state seal is retained in its current form, including all of its text. The fly side consists of seven alternating red and white horizontal stripes.
The State Seal
The golden arch is retained from the state seal, including its text. Rather than simplifying the symbol to the point that it becomes unrecognizable, the redesign keeps the arch in its familiar form as the main symbol of Georgia.
The Fourth State
The four red stripes represent Georgia's status as the fourth state to ratify the Constitution.
Three Signers and Three Pillars
The three white stripes represent Georgia's three signers of the Declaration of Independence while also echoing the three pillars of the state's government.
