Connecticut state flag redesign

Design and symbolism

My design for Connecticut is a vertical bicolor of white and purple. The purple fly-side stripe features an eradicated oak tree while three stars feature of the white hoist. The three purple stars reference the three original colonies of Hartford, Windsor, and Wethersfield, in purple referencing the three vines on the state coat of arms. The oak tree represents the Charter Oak, an iconic symbol of Connecticut’s resistance to British authority. The eradicated roots of the tree continues the transplanted theme of the grape vines.
