Arkansas state flag redesign
EvolutionCurrent Arkansas flag
There is a half-decent flag hidden here, but the big ol' name tag, thinly veiled, and outright Confederate references, and the generic red, white, and blue palette turn it into a big mess.
Design and symbolism
My redesign strips the design back to a green and white scheme to reflect the natural landscape while stepping further away from Confederate references. Removing the name badge allows for better spacing around the four central stars.
The Diamond State
Keeping the diamond shape maintains the representation with the state's nickname, the Diamond State.
Natural landscape
Replacing the background with a field of green represents Arkansas's natural environment and national parks and moves away from the boring, generic "Red, White and Blue".
Four stars
We keep the four stars, however, slightly changing how they represent four nations that have ruled the land: Spain, France, the USA, and the First Nations.
