Current Arkansas flag
There is a half-decent flag hidden here, but the big ol' name tag, thinly veiled and outright Confederate references, and generic red, white, and blue palette turn it into a big mess.
Design and symbolism
My redesign strips the design back to a green and white scheme to reflect Arkansas's natural landscape while stepping further away from Confederate references. Removing the name badge gives the four central stars more space and allows the design to breathe.
The Diamond State
Keeping the diamond shape maintains the connection to Arkansas's nickname, the Diamond State.
Natural landscape
Replacing the background with green represents Arkansas's natural environment while moving away from the generic red, white and blue palette.
Four stars
The four stars are retained, representing Spain, France, the United States, and the Indigenous peoples of the region. The Indigenous star replaces the Confederate star on the current flag.
