Tasmania redistribution 2025

The redistribution of Tasmania commenced on 12 August 2025. Public suggestions were sought from 8 October 2025 until 7 November 2025. Here you can find details of my suggestion to the Redistribution Committee.

Proposed electoral divisions

My suggestion ensures all electoral divisions in Tasmania meet the numerical thresholds for actual and projected enrolment, while adhering to community of interests criteria as outlined in the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.

The numerical thresholds for this redistribution are:

Redistribution quota
Total electors: 413,176 divided by the number of divisions: 5 = 82,635
Threshold for electors within each division (±10%)
Between 74,372 and 90,898 actual electors
Projected electoral quota
Total projected electors: 422,785 divided by the number of divisions: 5 = 84,557
Threshold for projected electors within each division (±3.5%)
Between 81,598 and 87,526 projected electors
Division name Current projected Current deviation % Proposed actual Proposed projected Proposed deviation %
Bass 80,818 -4.42% 85,931 86,180 +1.92%
Braddon 86,021 +1.73% 84,612 86,021 +1.73%
Clark 75,689 -10.49% 83,567 85,509 +1.13%
Franklin 87,262 +3.20% 0 0 N/A
